My NICU Graduate's Journey
Calen was born at 36 weeks with a pneumothorax. He spent a week on a ventilator struggling to breathe his own. Mom and dad had to wait 6 days until we could hold him, it was the toughest moment of our lives. He came home after two weeks in the NICU but under the supervision of 5 specialists of who he had to see regularly.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
Calen is so strong and fought so hard during the first few weeks of his life. His strength in overcoming his traumatic birth is a sign of who he is. Today he is an extremely strong and active little boy who loves to play tricks on his family. He is constantly making us laugh and everyday with him is a blessing. Seeing him now you wouldn’t know how much he fought so early on but we are so grateful for all the staff at Baptist main NICU for taking care of our son and taking care of us. Their constant support and encouragement helped us during the most traumatic times of our lives and to them we are forever thankful.
