Eight years ago My husband, Jeff, visited 9 Lives and asked Dr. Rudiger if there was an exceptionally affectionate kitty available. She said, "You have to meet Owen." He was a year old, very long, extremely skinny, with slits for eyes but when Jeff leaned toward him on top of his cage, Owen leaned forward and rubbed his head with Jeff's. It was love at first sight. I had wanted a younger kitty, but Jeff said I had to come meet Owen. We sat in the visitor room and Owen immediately climbed on top of Jeff and rubbed his head over and over...choosing Jeff as his Daddy. Then he climbed down and up over to me on the other side of the room, and placed his paw on my cheek. He obviously chose me to be his Mom. I'm so grateful he did. He was not the handsomest, with his eye infection, sore on his shoulder, skinny long body, sneezing 5 times a minute, but he was such a love! We tried to wait to bring him home until he was better, but Jeff just couldn't wait. He brought him home and slept on the floor with him in a separate room away from our other kitty, for a week, until finally Owen was well. He has blossomed into this extremely handsome boy....from Clark Kent to Supercat with beautiful large green eyes and I'm grateful every single day for this loving being in my life, especially since Jeff is no longer here with us.
