Herschel is a true Nine Lives miracle kitty. In June 2017 a couple brought Herschel to Nine Lives - imaciated (5.4lbs), paws, pads, and tail covered in open sores, and teeth in bad need of dental care. They wanted to surrender him to the Peninsula Humane Society - he would have been euthanized due to the extent of his injuries. Dr. Rudiger and the clinic staff opened their hearts to Herschel. With love and kindness they cleaned him, provided extensive medical care, lots of antibiotics, and fed him 3 cans of food 3 times a day until he was ready for foster care.

I met Herschel the day he was brought into the clinic. He broke my heart - he was a lump laying in the carrier. When the staff removed him from the carrier to examine him, they were afraid he would not make it. Chris said Herschel was a bag of bones held together by his skin & fur. He
could barely stand. His paw had injuries so severe Dr. Rudiger had to amputate.

When Herschel was ready for foster care I jumped at the chance. He is a luv bug with a mind of his own. He eschews photos and videos. As soon as he sees a phone or camera he scowls or turns his back to you. Today he walks normally on all 3s. While convalescing he would never walk when someone was watching, he'd quickly plop down on the floor. Food is served in a shallow bowl, pate, please, mixed with chicken or turkey baby food, creamy and smooth, thank you very much!!

Herschel's sores have all healed. It was a labor of love, patience, and diligence . His fur is now kitten soft. Total Catmojo will take time and patience.
