Your Pet's Story or Bio
My sister was a volunteer at NMDR. I visited from Las Vegas and accompanied her to NMDR several times. There were so many wonderful dogs, but I kept saying “Don’t let me get a dog.” On our December 2024 visit, we passed by a pair of adorable rat terriers. I was tempted, but they had to be adopted together. We moved on to a nearby kennel where a little black dog on its hind legs was poking its face out through the cage. “Reo” had arrived two weeks earlier from a shelter in NW Kansas. He was a beautiful Chihuahua/MinPin mix. He selected me for adoption.

Rio's co-parent and I later spoke to Kathy in Goodland, KS and learned that Reo - now Rio - was left behind when his owners were evicted. Through her relationship with Theresa, Rio arrived at NMDR. We told her that we had flown to the East Cast during the holidays and flew right over Goodland!

Rio is a delightful, bright and affectionate little boy. His best playmates are my sister’s dogs, 4 of whom are NMDR alumni and now also live in Las Vegas.
