Make your pet famous while helping animals in need! Enter Oregon Humane Society’s  Beer Label Photo Contest and your pet’s photo could be featured on Best Buds, a West Coast IPA (Important Pet Ale) from Migration Brewing.

Your participation as a contestant or voter will support OHS’ life-saving programs and services, including:

  • Caring for more than 11,000 animals annually
  • Providing low-cost spay/neuter surgery
  • Protecting animals from abuse and neglect
  • And more!

How to Enter & Win

How to Enter

To submit a photo online, click on the Participate tab (above) and follow the directions to upload a photo of your pet. Photos should be submitted in JPEG or PNG format with a minimum file size of 3 MB. Multiple photos can be submitted, but only one photo can be submitted at a time. Read more photo tips here.

The entry fee for submitting a photo is $10.

Photo entries must be received no later than 11 p.m. (PT) on Monday, July 28, 2025. Photos will only be accepted during the Contest period.

OHS reserves the right to request additional photos from the top three vote earners if the winning photos are not suitable for use on the Best Buds label.

How to Win

Once a photo is submitted, it will appear in the online gallery and be open to voting by the public. All votes for photo submissions will be tabulated and displayed online.

Votes are $1 each, with a minimum $5 donation required to participate.

Voters have the option of applying all votes to one photo, spreading their votes over various photos, or storing votes in their account for later use. All votes must be applied by July 28 at 11:30 p.m. to be counted.

The top three photos with the most votes will be eligible to have their pet featured on the Best Buds beer label. In addition, the photos with the fourth, firth, and sixth most votes will win a Finalist Prize package (see Prizes for full details). If there is a tie for third or sixth place, the entrant that reached their final vote total first will receive the prize. The recipient of the Contest prizes must be 21 years of age or older.

The online voting period will end at 11:30 p.m. (PT) on Monday, July 28, 2025. A clock will be displayed on the contest web page during the final day of the contest.  Note: there may be a gap of 15 minutes from when a vote is cast to when it appears online. Voters are urged to cast their votes at least 15 minutes before the contest ends. OHS is not liable for votes not appearing on the website and cannot refund donations for votes that do not appear after the deadline has passed.

Prizes will be awarded at the Best Buds beer label launch party at Migration Brewing on N. Williams Ave on October 11, 2025. If the prize recipient is unable to attend the party, prizes can be picked up at either Oregon Humane Society location as coordinated with the contest administrator. Prizes not claimed by November 14, 2025 will be forfeited.

What types of animals are eligible to enter the contest?
All domestic pets are eligible to win. Photos with people or wildlife are not eligible for prizes.

Does my pet have to have been adopted from OHS to enter?
We love seeing animals who have been adopted from OHS living their best lives, so OHS adopters are strongly encouraged to participate. However, your pet does not have to be adopted from OHS to be eligible to enter this contest.

Can I submit professional photos of my pet?
All photos must be submitted by the photographer who took the photo. OHS cannot accept copyrighted photos unless the owner of the copyright agrees to the usage rights of the OHS Contest.

Is it ok if other animals or people are in the photo with my pet?
Your pet must be the central figure in the photo. Photos containing multiple pets or people will be disqualified. We want your best bud to have the full spotlight!

Can I enter more than one photo of my pet?
The same pet can be entered into the contest multiple times, but votes will not be combined across multiple entries of the same pet.

Are votes tax-deductible?
Yes, votes are considered donations to Oregon Humane Society and are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Please note, the online tabulation of votes at times may have up to a 15-minute delay between when a gift is received/recorded and when it is reflected on the web page. OHS is unable to count votes or refund votes that are not listed on the web page as of 11:30:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Monday, July 28, 2025. Voters are urged to cast their votes at least 15 minutes before the contest closes. Participants can check the OHS website for results and winners after October 13.

Please consult your tax adviser for additional information. OHS may, at its sole discretion, choose to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event the offered prize is unavailable. Prizes are not redeemable for cash or exchangeable.
Photo Tips

Go Vertical!
For the best orientation on the beer label, submit photos that are vertical in orientation rather than horizontal/landscape.

Headshots Only, Please
We’d truly love to see every single photo of your pet playing, running, and doing all sorts of activities—even sleeping!—but action or sleep shots probably won’t translate well on the label.

Show ALL Their Best Features
Make sure your pet’s pic showcases the entirety of their head and/or body. While snuggly blanket pics or extreme close-ups are adorable, we won’t be able to use them.

Perfect Lighting
We want to be able to see your best bud clearly! Please refrain from submitting photos that are dark or contain a lot of shadows or light variations.

Keep Your Best Bud #1
Make sure your BFF is the sole subject of the photo. Pics that include humans or multiple animals will not be approved.
