My life changed dramatically within 7 months when I lost my last Berner girl Dixie and my husband George. I was completely alone for the first time in years. Wendy Scharen informed me there was a 1yo Berner up for adoption at the Brunswick County Animal Shelter so I had to go meet him. It was love at first sight. Louie was so in tune to my emotions, probably because he was grieving too. I adopted Louie on June 4, 2024 and slept through the night for the first time in months. In reality, Louie rescued me and we have been inseparable ever since. He gets to see many of the volunteers who took such good care of him on his walks around the neighborhood and we both are eternally grateful.
