Pet's Story
Born with Moderate Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a painless condition that affects an animal’s coordination and balance, Flip Flop lives her life a bit differently. She was adopted from the Winnipeg Humane Society in November of 2025 by Kiera, who already owned (and adored!) Winnie, a two year old cat with mild Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Flip Flop, Winnie and Kiera were featured in the WHS’ 2026 March Madness fundraising campaign, showcasing Flip Flop’s shy but loving personality.

Although she can’t run or jump like other kittens, Flip Flop has very quickly adapted to her disability. With some human intervention and accommodation, she has been able to live a happy life as a very healthy and affectionate cat.

Though she’s afraid of most inanimate objects and any sudden movements, Flip Flop is brave when she needs to be, often sliding head first off of the couch and finding small spaces to get stuck in. Flip Flop is living proof that not even a physical disability will stop a kitten from having a great quality of life; she loves stealing food, starting fights, and screaming for attention just like her mom.
