The Sunstone Sisters

In Kamloops’ hills beneath one moon,
Two sphynx-born sisters came too soon.
Jolene, bright as the morning sky,
Mavis, where the evening shadows lie.

One carried dawn within her gaze,
One walked through twilight’s emerald haze.
Though night and day seemed worlds apart,
The sisters shared a single heart.

The legends say they journeyed east,
Past mountain peaks and rivers deep,
To Winnipeg’s wide prairie land,
Where fate would place them hand in hand.

Each morning in the golden beams,
They gather strength and drift through dreams.
For sunlight is their ancient power,
Renewed with every passing hour.

Beside two dogs and one furred cat,
Five heroes guard their realm like that.
They battle dragons made of string
And chase the Feather-Fanged King.

Yet of all treasures they could claim,
No crown, no glory, wealth, or fame,

Their greatest magic, tried and true,
Is all the love they share with you.
