Maddie is an incredibly precious dog, who’s captured our hearts and smiles forever. She has such a light heart, gentle movements, and beams for anyone that passes her way. Maddie not only shares her love in selfless ways, but also protects us from unimaginable means that no other person could ever fathom. During the search for Maddie, our family had recently endured the loss of our twin babies. With the unexpected loss and uncertainty of knowing if our family could grow “human-wise,” we put our pet search on hold for the time being. It was that Sunday that I happened read about Caring for Creatures in a local paper about their upcoming events. With excitement, I went on their website to redeem more information. When I clicked on their pet profiles, the first face I saw was Maddie, AKA Abby. We instantly fell in love and called about meeting her. Maddie has now been with us for nearly 6 months and has been the loves of our lives. She is so amazing and intuitive of our family that she actually saved my life. Last year, I was diagnosed with a severe thyroid condition that could result in a heart attack if the hormones go into what’s called a “Thyroid Storm.” It was the reason of why we lost our babies. It was in the middle of one sleepy evening, when suddenly Maddie awoke abruptly and yelped at me as she was beside me in the bed. I woke up to find that I was in the beginning stages of a heart attack. I was quickly treated and since had my thyroid removed. If it wasn’t for Maddie’s protective instinct, my destiny could have been a very different story. She saved my life that night. Not only did she rescue me but she also helped the doctors understand the severity of my condition. Since then, I have been completely healthy and recouped of any ailments. So much so, that we are expecting a baby again and this time with clear reigns of any risks! We may have adopted Maddie and gave her a family that she longed for, but she gave us our lives back and gave us the completed family that we have longed for as well! Thank you, Caring for Creatures for saving her from a high-kill shelter and giving us all the chance to rescue each other from all of life’s challenges! We are all truly blessed..
