Horses love cold weather. Our two mares have warm winter coats courtesy of Mother Nature, so they have chosen to go out in the falling snow rather than to hang out munching hay in their cozy run-in shed. If you look closely, you will see the snow isn't melting on their backs. That's because they have a layer of fur under the guard hairs that keeps body heat from escaping - just like a wolf!
