Encountering this wild orangutan and her baby in Southern Borneo was a thrill of a lifetime. It took me three days to boat to Tanjung Puting National Park and a few hours of hiking. Wild orangutans are very patient and can be curious, so I sat on the ground and watched this animal from a distance. She eventually became comfortable enough with me to sit down on a branch and start breast feeding her baby. Borneo orangutans are endangered because of habitat loss and pollution.
