A little about me...
When we first saw Jackie’s picture on Rover’s Retreat, something in her eyes stopped us cold. She was a golden retriever from Turkey—gentle, hopeful, and somehow already part of us. We didn’t know her story, only that she had made an incredible journey halfway across the world looking for a home. The second we met her, that home became ours.

Jackie trotted toward us with her tail wagging in joyful circles, her golden fur catching the light like sunshine made real. Within moments, she leaned against us with complete trust, as if she’d known us forever. There was no hesitation, no need for convincing—we knew she was meant to be ours.

Since that day in 2023, Jackie has filled our lives with laughter and warmth. She’s a total goofball—rolling in the grass for no reason, carrying sticks around like prized possessions, and turning every couch into her personal cuddle zone. She greets each morning with a happy dance and every person she meets as a new best friend.

But beneath her silliness is a quiet wisdom, the kind that comes from resilience. Jackie reminds us daily that love can start anywhere, even oceans away, and that second chances are beautiful things.

Now, when she curls up beside us—content, safe, and home—we can’t help but think how lucky we are. We may have rescued Jackie, but in so many ways, she rescued us right back.
