Your Pet's Story or Bio
Rocky was brought into the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter by an elderly couple. He was a wild little puppy and too hard to handle. I saw his picture and fell in love. I was looking for a pal for our dog Fancy who was adopted from the shelter 5 years earlier. So I called about Rocky and was told all the challenges I’d face with him. Being an experienced dog owner I knew I could work with him. I made an appointment to come see him. The shelter said I would have to bring my husband and Fancy with me to meet Rocky just to see how he would react to us all. Rocky had issues with other dogs, growling at them. He also would go for the hands and bite hard. So we arrived, Rocky was brought to us in a visiting area. He was very calm with us, no problem with Fancy, and even cuddled with me and my husband. The shelter associate was surprised at how good he was with us. It was all working out for us to qualify to adopt him. So we did! When we got home, we got a dose of his wild side. So it was time to get to work. Lots of training was involved as he needed to learn hands were not for biting. He also needed to be socialized too as he’d growl at anyone other than us that wanted to pet him. It took lots of love and patience but after a few months he began to catch on. Rocky has turned to be such a love. He’s a cuddle buddy, a kisser and just the happiest little guy. What’s super cute is he loves toys and is playful with them all. His favorite is a snow monkey that he has to have next to him. He loves Fancy and she loves him too.
There aren’t enough words to describe how happy we are with Rocky. He fills our hearts. So glad he is in our family.
