Your Pet's Story or Bio
“Pudding,” a terrier-ish mix, was adopted from the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter on a warm September afternoon in 2011 as a birthday gift for my husband. Although it was getting close to closing time, the shelter attendant seemed to know that this dog was going home with us and would become a loyal and loving member of our family. “Pudding,” who was renamed “Yoli,” was a measly 3 pounds, flea bitten and missing patches of fur (attempted house-paint removal), yet bright eyed and full of delightful puppy energy! It was love at first sight.

The new family member was so amusingly mischievous that we knew a little help was in order. We signed up for a puppy class, which was so beneficial that we continued taking obedience classes. By the time Yoli was a year old, we had completed obedience training and enrolled Yoli in the more energetic and downright fun trick and agility training.

Yoli went on to achieve the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification and to become a certified therapy dog. As a therapy dog, Yoli volunteers with the SCPL Tales to Tails reading program, at local colleges offering stress relief during finals week, and with various youth programs including the Santa Cruz County Shelter’s awesome SCCAS Summer Critter Camp.

Yoli is a loyal companion who enjoys travel, a patched-together squeaky raccoon, frozen chicken cubes, walks, playing catch and fetch, agility, volunteering, family, friends and just hanging out. Sweet Yoli continues to share the love and be loved.
