Contest FAQs
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CONTEST
- All online photo entries and votes must be submitted by midnight (11:59:59 PM Central Time) on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
- There is a $20 donation fee per entry, which includes 5 votes. You may enter multiple photos and/or multiple categories, but the donation fee is required for each entry.
- Photos of dogs only. No people.
- Your pet does NOT have to be adopted from Shelby Humane or live in Shelby County to be eligible to enter the Contest.
- Photos must be full-color. No heavily filtered, edited, professional, AI, or altered photos.
- Dogs that are in costume must be dressed in an appropriate costume. Obscene, lewd, or cruel entries and/or where the dog appears uncomfortable or in distress will be removed from the Contest. Props may be included in your photo but are not necessary. Photos deemed offensive, indecent, or obscene will be removed from the Contest.
- Voting is $1 per vote. You may buy a bank of votes to allocate across entries, but any unused votes at the end of the voting period will be forfeited and are not able to be refunded.
- We encourage you to e-mail, text, and post on social media the Contest link and encourage everyone to vote for your favorite contestant's photo. Votes may be cast during the Voting Period only.
- Winners will be notified via email and phone and will be announced by Shelby Humane on public outlets, including social media.
- Winners will need to pick up their prize at Fancy Fur Pet Grooming & Boutique, 1340 Inverness Corners, Birmingham, AL 35242.
- By submitting photos to the contest, you verify that you are the copyright holder for each photo submitted and have the legal authority to assign all rights to Shelby Humane for this Contest and all future purposes; the photo is an original work and does not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party; agree to allow Shelby Humane to display your submitted photos and related bio information on Shelby Humane’s websites including Facebook and all Social Media, Newsletter, and any/all websites and/or projects advertisements and marketing that Shelby Humane may use in the future; and agree to the Contest Rules.
