Louie is a Llewellin Setter who was born deaf (we never told him he was deaf so he doesn't know). He is a wild and crazy guy who loves to run and tease his GSP brother, Wyn. We adopted him when he was 10 weeks old and have learned a lot about deaf dogs from him.

He loves the water as you can see in the pic while his GSP brother hates water. Louie knows that and will charge into the water and then chase Wyn, get next to him and shake off the water. Wyn hates it and Louie is smiliing the whole time.

When you are around Louie you would never suspect he was deaf. He watches us closely and figures out what to do in response to our actions.

He is not a quiet or shy dog. He will stand his ground when challenged but is not aggressive. He loves to play chase and loves to chew metal. If he finds a coin he will chew it until it is bent, so loose change has to be secured.

In a few words he is tough, smart and adorable.
