Rescued from Sherman Island in the Delta during a hailstorm, Bently and her sister were discovered by firefighters who built a makeshift shelter to protect them through the night. When morning came, the sisters were still there, waiting.

One of the firefighters brought both dogs to the vet. He adopted one and put Bently up for adoption. A friend of mine who rescues dogs posted Bently’s photo on Facebook and I arranged to meet her at Pet Food Express. Sadly, I left without her. Bently was so adorable that another family took her home and nearly adopted her, but the mother ultimately said no and brought her back.

Something told me she was meant to be with me—and the rest is history. She loves sitting with me on the golf cart and runs alongside it whenever I play. She’s more than a pet—she’s family.
