Pet's Story or Bio
I found Mouse as a stray kitten in my backyard in a previous city and I took her to my local shelter for spaying and adoption evaluation. After being deemed unadoptable, she was released in my neighborhood and made her way back to my backyard. I provided her shelter, food, and water and after a few months of socialization, she became my third cat and eventually was indoors at night and outside during the day. Fast forward a few years and I moved to Carmel. I waited to move Mouse at the very last possible time and knew the transition would be tough for her since she wouldn’t be allowed to go outside for several weeks. On day two of being here, she darted out an open door and ran. I was so worried since she didn’t yet know the area. I did all the things when a pet is lost, but was unsuccessful in finding her. Then out of the blue, she was spotted in the neighbor’s yard….92 days later! I was able to catch her, but she fought me and ran. At least I knew she was close by and again provided shelter, food, and water. She was so thin and she just looked awful. I was able to get her to sleep in the garage at night, but she wanted nothing to do with coming in the house. One of my other cats whom she loved and played with before, hissed at her when he saw her. So for about six months, she stayed outside and in the garage. And then one day, she decided she was ready to come inside. Now she is indoors 90% of the time, but goes outside occasionally and always goes outside when we are doing yardwork. She is the most affectionate cat that I’ve ever had. The other cat, whom she played with before, warmed up to her again and they play together like before. I believe she remembers me from before she was lost and she genuinely seems happy for being given not one, but two chances at living the good life of a rescue pet. She is loved and is a faithful friend.
