Pet's Story or Bio
Maggie (right; longer legs; adopted from the SPCA) has joined our first rescue Buddy (left; shorter legs; he has been entered into this contest under separate cover :) and become part of our family in ways we never expected.

First, one of our twin daughters thought Buddy needed a companion. She spotted Maggie on the SPCA web site (my daughter is only on the site about, say, 20 times a day :) Maggie is a tripod. We wondered about her story. Eventually, our daughter got me, her mom, to go look. Except our daughter didn't know I was looking, didn't know I fell in love with this amazing, soulful dog at first site, didn't know I had adopted her.

All my daughter knew was that the next time she checked the web site, Maggie had "been adopted." She railed against the injustices of the world, wondered how her mom could have let this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity slip by. Her mother replied simply: I'm sure she got a good home."

That afternoon, I picked up my daughter and her twin sister from school and headed home, where Maggie was safely ensconced and had already started to make fast friends with our highly discriminating Buddy. (He couldn't help but fall for her...)

As the girls ran to the window in typical fashion to peer at Buddy before opening the door, they paused. They couldn't make sense of what they were seeing. It seemed as if there were two dogs inside. We walked in, they looked down, and spotted Maggie.

It was, quite simply, the best surprise ever.
