Pet's Story or Bio
Tilley was abandoned along with her five litter mates in Brackenridge Park Texas, a large urban park in San Antonio where unfortunate unwanted animals are frequently abandoned. I trapped the entire litter of six, which wasn't easy. (I lead the Brackenridge Park Community Cat Project that cares for and manages the free roaming animals and colonies there). This all happened in early June 2013 when my wife and I were preparing to leave for our summer stay in Carmel where we own a vacation home. The kittens were too young for shelter placement and no foster could be found so we loaded them all up in a hamster cage and made the journey to California (along with our own cats that make the trip annually), an adventure for all! Arriving we put the cage on a wall out front of our home to give the kittens some fresh air. Someone passing by told someone else they saw kittens in a cage and soon someone showed up to claim a black one that never made it inside, to this day we receive pictures and updates from him almost daily, a perfect match! Two were adopted out with the help of the SPCA and two more were placed privately, only Tilley remained. She suffered from a nervous condition and was virtually unapproachable. We stuck it out with her and after much work in the form of patience and loving care she has come around to be a wonderful pet, still a little skitsy, but definitely one of the family. Hurray for Tilley!
