Sophie was dropped off at the SPCA when she was one day old. I was getting over the loss of another feline companion and had no intention of getting another animal. Yet, when my sister came for her yearly visit, she gently suggested we "just visit" the SPCA to see who was there. I was looking for an older cat who would be low maintenance, but then I locked eyes with this tiny, little beautiful thing. She never took her eyes off me. The SPCA staff thought she was three months old but she was really small. After I held her, I knew it was meant to be. When she was put back in her cage, she stretched all four limbs outright and held onto the cage crying while looking right at me. I went and picked her up first thing the next morning. She developed kennel cough the second day she was home and was quite sick for a while, but she healed eventually. Nursing her through her illness really bonded us in those first few months. Eight years later, we've been through quite a lot together, and I wouldn't want it any other way. She is incredibly special....and incredibly special to me.
