Adopted or Rescued?Yes
Pet personality / Story of adoption / Why is your pet special?Schautzie was a bright and friendly Schnauzer who adapted well to numerous family travels as we moved from city to city and other states (Illinois and Georgia) for my fathers corporate work relocations. We eventually made our homes in: Lincoln, Chicago, Atlanta, ultimately settling down for a stretch in Kearney, NE. Our tough schnauzer flexed with all the family and house changes.
He was a sturdy little guy who liked to rough house, got along well with other animals, and loved to take long car rides with us. Like most Schnauzers, Schautzie had an outgoing personality, sporty good looks, loved to play with young kids, and he was also a good watchdog.
The Schnauzer breed origins are in old herding and guard breeds of Europe, generally classified as a working or utility dog, they are known to be squarely built, robust, with aristocratic bearing. Apparently the Schnauzer was a popular subject of famous painters like Sir Joshua Reynolds and Rembrandt, but actual proof is hard to confirm. Regardless, this photo is worth a thousand words as we will never forget our Schautzie, the sturdy little Schnauzer - he was our most memorable dog growing up over 13 years.
