Pet personality / Story of adoption / Why is your pet special?Switch was curious, brave, cuddly, an entertainer, and courageous.
The most unusual cat we have ever owned.
Switch thought he was a dog (or human), and was involved in every aspect of our human life, He loved to be up, up, up (i.e. on neighbors roof), or in a tree, he would hang out the car window while driving like a dog, and listen to Elvis Presley CD's, Smooth Jazz, Toby Kieth, or Johnny Cash were his favorites, while he switched his tail to the beat.
His cat behavior was so unusual and remarkable that he inspired a comic strip in 2009 called, "Super Switch, The Return of Katnip World." The comic strip written by Chloe Dixon and her father ran each weekend edition (The McCook Daily Gazette) Whiskers section for five straight years without fail (over 240 comic stories about the escapades of Super Switch were shared with the community in Red Willow County, NE).
Switch passed away in 2011 and he will never be forgotten. He was with us when we made our very first charitable donation to the McCook Humane Society ($9.75 earned from a lemonade stand / bake sale). He toured youth classes at the schools around town and summer library sessions, annual parades and events. The memory of Switch still inspires us today via the McCook Cat Pack volunteers to continue awareness and fundraising projects for the shelter!
