If you are a cat or dog loving family and are an advocate for the adoption of shelter animals, we'd like you to help us identify the most adorable and funny furry friends around town.
Each year the McCook Humane Society and McCook Cat Pack volunteers design and create a 12 month calendar featuring adopted or rescued cats and dogs. All photos submitted within the contest rules are a part of next year's calendar.
To participate, you do not need to be a resident of Red Willow County, Nebraska. We welcome all rescue and adoption stories! The top cat and top dog receiving votes (most votes earned in each category) will receive the calendar honor of "Cover Model of the Year" and will be inducted in to the McCook Humane Society calendar "Paw of Fame" poster.
Votes are One Dollar ($1.00) each.
Votes can be entered now through the contest deadline ending September 6th, 2020, 7:00pm CST. You can vote for your favorite photo as often as you wish and we encourage your family, friends, and place of work to vote for your favorite pet photos too. There is no limit to the number of votes one may cast.
All contest voting donations are tax deductible and benefit the McCook Humane Society. Top Prizes
Two top winners will grace the cover of the 2021 calendar and awarded, "Cover Model of the Year," honors. Each winning photo owner will also receive the first and second place prizes outlined in the "Contest Rules / Prizes" section.
Donate
The McCook Humane Society survives on the generous contributions and donations from our community, family members, partnering businesses and sponsors, and not for profit organizations who share a commitment to the southwest Nebraska /northwest Kansas animal shelter mission.
For the past eight years all donations raised in the McCook shelter pet photo contest (100% of all contest proceeds) and calendar sales have directly benefited the McCook Humane Society.

The 2021 calendars will debut at the October 10th, 2020 "Dog Days in the Park," event hosted at the shelter. Post the Dog Days in the Park event, calendars will be available at the McCook Humane Society (100 South Street, McCook, NE) during normal shelter hours and select southwest, Nebraska, northwest, Kansas retailers (specific 2021 calendar sponsor locales). The McCook Cat Pack is a group of volunteers committed to serving the McCook Humane Society cause and mission. In 2009, McCook Humane Society leadership adopted the youth fundraisers which over time became referred to as, The McCook Cat Pack (MCP).
The purpose of the MCP is two fold:
1. Raise awareness about the McCook Humane Society and the joys of shelter adoption
2. Host fundraising projects and events which raise important donations to help operate the McCook Humane Society
This summer (2020) is the MCP volunteers 11 year anniversary hosting lemonade stands, bake sales, merchandise tents, table booth events and related animal welfare projects for the southwest, NE animal shelter. The MCP can be reached at:
