Why is Your Pet "Rescued (or Stray) and Hilarious?
ZEUS THE MOOSE
Carmichael, California

My husband and I were married in October of 2020 and couldn’t have been happier. Or so we thought, that is, until we decided to add to our family in the form of a loving pup. We went in search of our consummate companion at Fresno Bully Rescue. Nothing could have prepared us for our meeting with the silliest boy on earth: Zeus the Moose.
It turns out that Zeus had been surrendered by his previous family for being “too big”. But to us, this self-styled 100-pound lap dog is just the right size. Because of his ultra-soft coat and sturdy barrel shape, we call him our “velvet hippo”. Zeus also sports long grandpa socks on his front paws and itty bitty ankle socks in back.
Zeus loves to flop down and demand belly rubs and pats. Patting Zeus’s round tummy sounds just like thumping a perfectly ripe watermelon. He’ll peer at us upside-down, giving us the crazy eye, and flipping his ears inside-out. In this pose, our dear Zeus looks suspiciously like a mischievous goblin.
This Halloween, we knew that we had to include Zeus in the festivities and found him the perfect costume to accentuate both his figure and personality; a baked potato. And instead of candy, we gave him carrots, his favorite treat to crunch loudly.
Zeus is a loving boy with a gentle demeanor and is an amazing foster brother to all the dogs we bring into our home. He always seems to know just how to make the most timid dog feel secure and at ease. Zeus has been in our home since January 2021, and I like to think that’s when our lives really started.
