Why is Your Pet "Rescued (or Stray) and Hilarious?
THIRD PLACE CONTEST WINNER
LUCI Q
Ewing, New Jersey

Luci Q has always been an adventure dog. Almost 13 years ago, her rescuers discovered Luci exploring The First State, Delaware. They journeyed north to New Jersey to a rescue called Cattitude who posted a 4-month-old Luci for adoption.
I had been searching for a dog, and when I saw her picture on Petfinder, I knew Luci belonged with me. Her smile, small stature, and mixed breed were what initially drew me to Luci but was only when I got her home that I discovered her 3” long goatee and now call her my “bearded beauty”.
As the years have gone by and we have spent our lives together, I have found so much more to love. We adventure together: hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. The one place I won’t follow Luci is into the brush; she simply cannot pass a bush without jumping headlong into it, “hunting” for who knows what. Luci is my best friend, my loyal companion, my first and only child.
Being her mother’s child, Luci has adopted my clumsy ways. She seems to have never quite outgrown the wobbly walk of a puppy and regularly bumps into walls despite having perfect vision. Luci has also found herself trapped between the cushions of the sofa or misjudging distance and rolling right off the bed. But no matter the situation, Luci’s happy demeanor remains constant.
Luci’s positivity and friendliness earned her a bestie in Bolt, a beagle she has been nursing through a recent surgery. She even has a number of cat friends in our neighborhood who we visit on our daily walks. In addition to all her four-legged friends, Luci is beloved by my parents, with whom she spends two days a week. Luci even joins in on FaceTime calls with my sister and niece in San Francisco.
Luci means the absolute world to me! She is my support system, therapy dog, and snuggle buddy. Luci is a little nugget of sunshine who lifts me up on a daily basis.
