Why is Your Pet "Rescued (or Stray) and Hilarious?
HOAGIE
Newtown, Pennsylvania
Hoagie is a handful. This little powerhouse of a dog has the characteristics of a much larger pooch. His toys are three times his size, he chews on sticks 18” inches long and makes himself comfy on all kinds of people furniture. Don’t believe it? Check out Hoagie’s Instagram page: @howhoagierolls, where his wacky antics are frequently documented.
There you will also see how funny Hoagie is beyond posing with a bottle of Champagne, his nose on the edge of a flute. His mom says he constantly makes her laugh because he’s a very vocal dog. “He makes crazy loud noises like a gremlin,” Crissy reports. She also insists that he yells at her when he wants to play. He’ll bring her a ball and complain until she throws it.
When he’s not being vocal, he’s often mimicking the sinewy movements of a cat. He’ll sleep on the narrow arm of a chair and walk along the back of the couch. Hoagie’s family adopted this catdog from a shelter after they instantly fell in love with him. They were told in advance he was spunky, but they were undeterred and brought the little dog with the big personality home. That was nearly four years ago.
The story of Hoagie’s name began in Crissy’s unconscious. Before Hoagie even came into their lives, Crissy had a dream that she had two dogs—one was the family dog, and the other was a mystery pooch. When the mystery dog went running, she yelled after him, and what came out of her mouth was “Hoagie!” When it was time to name their new pet, the family all agreed it should be Hoagie. It turns out, it suits the mini dog just fine. Just like he has a big personality, he has a big appetite too. Crissy says he loves Primo and WaWa hoagies. Perfect!
