Why is Your Pet "Rescued (or Stray) and Hilarious?
The day my Calico, Gracie, died, we went to our mechanic to pick up our car, and Hammy ran out from under our car and immediately started rolling on the ground greeting us with so much enthusiasm. We just knew this was a sign. We had been looking for a long haired cat to fill the void in the wake of losing our Maine Coon, Teddy, a while back, but of course we didn’t want to replace him. Hammy’s presence was unlike any cat we’d met, as he was just SO LOVEY! He reminded us of Teddy in his appearance a bit and Gracie in his mannerisms, and we just knew he was what we’d been looking for. Since adopting him, his fur has fully fluffed, he’s squeaky clean, and the only reminder of his life as a stray is his back paw with a trauma induced fusing of two toes. His funky toe can’t retract his claws, so he clacks wherever he walks - we always know when he’s approaching. He doesn’t let this ruin his spunk! His zoomies bring us all joy, and he’s certainly filled the holes in our hearts. He may be the clumsiest cat in the world, and he always leans on something while laying down, often sprawling on laptop chargers or just putting his whole weight on you - of course trapping you with no mobility for long periods of time.
