Contest Entry
To submit your pet's photo, a
minimum $10 entry donation is required. This fee enters your pet into the contest and will be included in the overall funds raised for your campaign. Each entry may include
one photo of one pet only, and each entry requires a separate $10 donation. You may enter multiple times with different photos, but each will require a new entry fee.
Entries must be submitted
online only; mailed or hardcopy photos will not be accepted. All entries must include a current photo of your pet. Any photo or caption deemed inappropriate, offensive, or not in line with the values of The Dog Rescue Society will be removed.
Entries and voting will be accepted through the contest website from
8:00 AM (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 until midnight (11:59:59 PM Eastern Time) on Friday, October 31, 2025 Your pet does not need to be adopted from The Dog Rescue Society to participate, though alumni pets are warmly welcomed (please feel free to note this in their bio if applicable).
If there is a tie for any of the top twelve winning spots, the winner will be determined by whichever entry was submitted first. Tie-breaker details will appear on the Leaderboard.
Photo Requirements
- Photos must be taken by the entrant or submitted with the express consent of the photographer. Copyrighted photos without permission will not be accepted.
- By submitting a photo, you warrant that it is your own work (or that you have usage rights) and that you grant The Dog Rescue Society unrestricted rights to use the photo and accompanying pet information for marketing, fundraising, and future calendar purposes.
- If your photo includes a pet not owned by you, written consent from the owner must be provided.
- All photos must be digital and high quality.
- Outdoor photos are welcome, provided pets are shown in safe, suitable environments. (Cats and dogs must appear safe; domestic birds must be photographed indoors.)
- All photos submitted become the property of The Dog Rescue Society.
Contest Voting
Votes are
$1 each, with a minimum purchase of $5 (due to processing fees).
Voting is open to everyone, and entrants may vote for their own pet. Online voting begins as soon as a photo entry is confirmed and continues until
midnight (11:59:59 PM Eastern Time) on Friday, October 31, 2025. All donations are final, and all votes must be applied before the voting deadline to be counted.
Contest Winners
The
12 pets with the most votes will be featured in The Dog Rescue Society's 2026 Calendar.
To qualify, winners must be available to attend the
professional calendar photo session on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2:30–4:30 p.m. at Huron Natural Area (Kitchener, ON) with photographer
Sarah Willoughby Photography.
If a winner is unable to attend the photo session, the next-highest-ranking contestant will take their place.
Final Note
The Dog Rescue Society celebrates and cares for all animals, and we encourage a wide variety of pets to be entered. However, calendar features will be determined by community votes, not by The Dog Rescue Society.
