Tell us a little bit about your pup!
Petal Skye was surrendered to the Durham Animal Protection Society at around 4 months old. She was at risk of euthanasia when Independent Animal Rescue sent out a call for a foster for her. We agreed to foster, with no intention of adding a 3rd dog to our pack! Skye was sick, thin, and scared when she came to stay with us. My dogs immediately took to her and mothered her. We never even listed her on the website! I couldn’t bear the thought of saying goodbye. Petal is named after the pig in Gilmore Girls because she is such a little piggy with her pink skin, snort, and mud rolling. Skye has a perpetual side eye which just makes her even more lovable. Skye has her challenges with separation anxiety, severe reactivity to noises and novel things. But to know her is to love her. She is cuddly, sweet, funny, adventurous, and all puppy. She makes us laugh daily. Skye love to eat, sleep, dig in the dirt, snort, wrestle with her sister, and nuzzle our necks. Skye is all about the Tennis Balls! She hides them under the bed, then finds them. Hides them in blankets, under the table, etc and then searches for them. Skye LOVES kids. She gives them little nose bumps and is so gentle. She also loves to go to work with me and visit older people in retirement homes. Skye is a cuddly, snorty, piggy and we can’t imagine live without her.

Petal Skye is the poster pup for rescue. The thought of her being euthanized is unimaginable. She has been through a lot in her life but she loves hard and lives big. And besides, who wouldn't want to look at her cute little piggy side eye every day?!
