This SL550 "Mille Miglia 417" is a Special Edition to celebrate the 60th anniversary of a memorable and unexpected victory of a 300 SL sports car at the 1955 "Mille Miglia". The 417 denotes the race number and the start time, 4:17am. The driver was John Fitch, an American private driver. He crossed the finish line in fifth place and as winner of the production sports cars. From Brescia to Rome and back, 11 hrs; 29 min; 21 sec; 1,597 kilometers on public roads.
