A little about this entry...
A friend of mine & I liked to stay up late cruising eBay for cars. Over the July 4th weekend 18 years ago, I placed an esnipe bid for this car. The next morning I got notified that I had won the auction. The bad news was the reserve was not met. I felt like I dodged a bullet. Then, the 'You've got mail' message sounded. I was told by the Owner he would sell me the car for my high bid. When could I come to PA and pick up the car, body panels & spare parts. What body panels? What spare parts? At least he did give me a phone number to call.
After about an hour conversation, I realized I had stumbled into a deal - maybe of a lifetime.
He had personally built this car - which originally was a US specification version with an automatic transmission & red MB Tex interior - as a Euro specification version with a 4-speed manual transmission (column shift) & Cognac leather interior for his daily driver.
Another friend & I drove to West Chester, PA in my F150 & took possession of the 250SE, as well as many, many parts, wheels, etc. We took turns driving the 250SE, as it was a blast to drive. It made the trip from PA to NC without any issues.
To this day, the previous Owner regrets selling me the car & I have continued to add options to the car!
