Pet's Story
Silver was surrendered to a local shelter as a "breeder release" when his family/breeder could no longer meet his or his family's needs. Silver was seen being mistreated by the breeder's family and he reacted. He very easily could have been mislabeled as so many shelter dogs are but he wasn't because we knew what he was like and knew he didn't have a mean bone in his body.
I was a volunteer at the shelter in which he was surrendered to. I was charged with taking pictures, networking the animals for rescue placement and finding transport to get the animals to their rescues. I met Silver and fell in love with him. I was telling my husband about him and he said "you know I don't believe I have every seen a silver lab". The 2 met and the rest is history.
Silver came to live at our house shortly before his first birthday. He has such an empathetic nature and tender heart that he fit right in with the rest of our crew. We also foster shelter dogs until they find their people. Because of Silvers' personality and empathetic nature he bonds with every single dog that comes into our home. They play together and sleep together. Because of his personality he is also my "dog tester" when I need to test a shelter dog or a dog in the community being rehomed to make sure that the other dog is dog friendly. Silver never reacts no matter what the other dog is doing. We are so blessed to have him in our life. He is part clown and part therapist. We love him dearly.
