Pet's Story
After losing my 13‑year‑old Boerboel to cancer, I told myself I would never get another dog.
The pain was too sharp, too heavy, too much.
The kind of heartache that settles into your chest and refuses to move.
I tried to convince myself that my life was quieter now, easier even… but the silence didn’t feel peaceful. It felt empty. The absence of a soft sigh, a warm presence, a loyal shadow—it echoed in every corner of my days.
Eventually, I realized that what I missed wasn’t having a dog.
I missed loving one.
This time, I knew my heart needed something different.
So I turned to rescue—The Bullpen Way Station & Sanctuary in Georgia where somewhere a dog was waiting for a second chance, just like I was.
And then I saw that face.
