Pet's Story
Cali first came to us from a local shelter, as a foster dog. She was in rough shape and had experienced some neglect. Once she was healthy she was adopted by a family, but returned less than 30 days later with all her pretty fur shaved off, thin and filthy. The shelter called us to let us know that she had been surrendered again and we quickly went to get her. We almost didnt recognize her. After giving her time to decompress, and get healthy again, another family applied to adopt her. We kept in touch, and even kept Cali when her new family traveled. Recently that adopted contacted me and regretfully informed me that they too needed to surrender Cali back to the shelter. We were told she was having behavioural issues, and had become very anxious. We welcomed Cali back to our home and quickly decided that there was some divine intervention taking place, and that even though we had NO desire to add a sixth dog to our pack, it was the right thing to do.

Cali is a herding dog. She is a heeler mix, and if you know herding breeds, then you know they need a lot more than your average lab. These dogs need purpose, enrichment, and training to be happy. Without these things they will become anxious, and disruptive or destructive.

Cali blended right in to resident life with her new brothers and sisters (Little Wayne, Petey Pablo, Phoebe, Money and Juno), and is currently in training to get her Canine Good Citizen certificate (being trained by me). Once she has received her certifcations we are going to visit rehab facilities and mental health facilities so that Cali can bring a little calm and a little sunshine to people on their darker days.

Calis favorite things are long chats, dancing, playing in the pool, walkies, treats!, destuffing a stuffie, and watching over our new grandson Aubrey. Cali knows sit, down, high five, fist bump, left, right, heel and show me your pretty teeth commands so far.

Cali is home forever now.
