Welcome to the Vieques Humane Society 2025 Calendar and Photo Contest! This year, we're changing up our calendar format. Instead of asking photographers to submit photos, we want YOU to enter the contest and send us your favorite photo of your pet. Then, you'll ask for votes to win a coveted Pet of the Month spot.
The top 6 vote-getters in each category (cats and dogs) will be featured as Pet of the Month models in the 2025 Vieques Humane Society Calendar. The owner of the overall top vote-getter will also have the distinct honor of choosing which month their pet appears.
The $30 contest entry fee guarantees every submitted photo a spot in our calendar! Even if you are not a top vote-getter, your pet's image will still appear in a photo collage with other animal friends. Plus, each entrant will receive a complimentary copy of the 2025 calendar – a $20 value. (Shipping is included with your entry fee.)
It is easy to participate! Simply follow these three steps:
- Make a $30 donation to enter
- Submit your photo
- Get your family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors to vote for your pet’s picture.
How voting works:Votes are $1 each, with a minimum donation of $5 for five votes. All votes are tax-deductible. You can also vote for your own pet's photo as many times as you and your friends and family wish!

Rules
Photo Requirements
- Photos of cats and dogs are accepted.
- Your pet does NOT need to have been adopted from the Vieques Humane Society or come from the island of Vieques to be eligible to enter this contest.
- The photo you submit may contain more than one pet.
- People are not allowed in your photo, only pets.
- Additional photos or additional pets may be submitted at $30 per submission.
- We cannot accept Polaroids, photos with digital overlays, heavily edited pictures, photos with stickers or doodles, or any copyrighted or professional photos.
- Photos must be high resolution. (3650 pixels x 2740 pixels is recommended for printing purposes.)
- If your pet wins Pet of the Month, but the quality of your photo is not high enough for printing, we will ask you to submit a new photo.
- Once entered, photos become the property of the Vieques Humane Society and may be used for print and marketing purposes.
- Entries must be submitted before 5:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

All proceeds from the Vieques Humane Society 2025 Calendar and Photo Contest will benefit the homeless pets on Vieques.
They come to us from deserted beaches, abandoned houses, the island dump, and the side of the road. Your support changes the destinies of hundreds of innocent victims of homelessness, neglect, abuse, and want.
Incorporated in 1987, Vieques Humane Society is the island’s oldest 501(c)3 non-profit animal welfare organization on Vieques, and its only open-admission shelter. We are dedicated to humane care, pet wellness, and prevention of animal neglect—all supported through a low-cost community clinic, shelter, and active adoption and transport program.
