Welcome to the second annual Vieques Humane Society Calendar and Photo Contest! Back by popular demand, this year’s contest gives you the chance to show off your favorite pet photo and compete for a featured spot in our 2026 calendar.
The top 6 vote-getters in each category (cats and dogs) will be featured as Pet of the Month models in the 2026 Vieques Humane Society Calendar. The owner of the overall top vote-getter will also have the distinct honor of choosing which month their pet appears.
Your $30 contest entry fee guarantees a spot in the calendar! Even if your pet isn’t a top vote-getter, their photo will appear in a full-page collage with other animal friends. Every entrant will also receive a complimentary copy of the 2026 calendar (a $20 value, with shipping included).
It is easy to participate! Simply follow these three steps:
- Make a $30 donation to enter
- Submit your photo
- Get your family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors to vote for your pet’s picture.
Photo Guidelines:
Photos must be high resolution — we recommend 3650 x 2740 pixels for printing.
Please submit horizontal (landscape-oriented) images only, as the calendar is printed in landscape format.
How voting works:Votes are $1 each, with a minimum donation of $5 for five votes. All votes are tax-deductible. You can also vote for your own pet's photo as many times as you and your friends and family wish!

Rules
Photo Requirements
- Photos of cats and dogs are accepted.
- Your pet does NOT need to have been adopted from the Vieques Humane Society or come from the island of Vieques to be eligible to enter this contest.
- Photos must be high resolution — we recommend 3650 x 2740 pixels for best print quality.
- Please submit horizontal (landscape-oriented) photos, as the calendar pages are printed in landscape format.
- The photo you submit may contain more than one pet.
- People are not allowed in your photo, only pets.
- Additional photos or additional pets may be submitted at $30 per submission.
- We cannot accept Polaroids, photos with digital overlays, heavily edited pictures, photos with stickers or doodles, or any copyrighted or professional photos.
- If your pet wins Pet of the Month, but the quality of your photo is not high enough for printing, we will ask you to submit a new photo.
- Once entered, photos become the property of the Vieques Humane Society and may be used for print and marketing purposes.
- Entries must be submitted before 5:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Friday, August 1, 2025.

All proceeds from the Vieques Humane Society 2026 Calendar and Photo Contest will benefit the homeless pets on Vieques.
They come to us from deserted beaches, abandoned houses, the island dump, and the side of the road. Your support changes the destinies of hundreds of innocent victims of homelessness, neglect, abuse, and want.
Incorporated in 1987, Vieques Humane Society is the island’s oldest 501(c)3 non-profit animal welfare organization on Vieques, and its only open-admission shelter. We are dedicated to humane care, pet wellness, and prevention of animal neglect—all supported through a low-cost community clinic, shelter, and active adoption and transport program.
