Onyx, already in her middle years, was found as a stray in Luling, Texas, a small town known for watermelon and oil! She was saved by the Luling Animal Welfare Society, and transported to New York by another rescue, Austin Pets Alive!
Through a chance encounter, Gary and Gabrielle met Onyx' foster mom, Nicole Varady (a known Vieques Humane Society volunteer) 2.5 years ago. She introduced us to this affectionate, soulful pup, and the rest is history! We fell in love... and haven't stopped showering her with everything a rescue dog needs to feel safe and finally home.
By the way... She LOVES carrots, and has permanently taken over our couch!
