ROC Top Pet Contest Entry
Sally was born on July 26, 2025, but her life nearly ended before it truly began.
On October 17, Ridge’s Rescue received an urgent call about a tiny, critically ill puppy suffering from severe Megaesophagus and facing a grim prognosis. Without immediate intervention, Sally could have died of starvation. The very next day, she entered rescue — and that single yes changed everything.
At just under three months old, Sally weighed only 5.3 pounds. She was frail, exhausted, and struggling to survive each meal. X-rays confirmed Megaesophagus, a condition that makes swallowing impossible without eating upright. For Sally, a Bailey Chair wasn’t optional — it was lifesaving. Starting with a makeshift chair, meal by meal, she began to gain strength.
Further testing revealed Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA), a congenital defect compressing her esophagus. Without surgery, her future was uncertain. Cornell University Veterinary Specialists took on her case, and in December, Sally underwent successful laparoscopic PRAA repair and was spayed at the same time. She came home sore, sleepy — and victorious.
Today, Sally weighs nearly 17 pounds and continues to thrive. She still eats in her Bailey Chair, is progressing beautifully, and has even started drinking small amounts of water on her own. She loves toys, adores food, enjoys training, and proudly rules her foster home as a spunky little sister.
Sally isn’t just a puppy — she’s resilience, second chances, and proof that compassion saves lives. From critically ill to confidently thriving, Sally is Ridge’s Rescue’s
