Sam came into our lives via Buffalo, where he was rescued from horrific abuse. He was kicked repeatedly and thrown against a wall in which he lost several teeth and suffered a broken leg. He was taken in and nursed back to health by an amazing woman who witnessed the abuse. When he was healthy enough, she put out the word to find him his forever home. Sam (named after Samuel Clemens and Sam Elliott, both of whom sport legendary mustaches) was rightfully terrified of people. We provided him a safe space to adjust at his own speed. It took more than a year before he felt comfortable enough to let us touch him, and another year before we could pet him. Once he finally knew he was safe, he blossomed into one of the sweetest and most beautiful cats we have ever known! His long white whiskers compliment his long soft coat, and he has a small nub for a tail. He loves playing with the other cats in the house, chirps when he is happy, has an incredible purr and loves nothing more than hanging out with Pa in his recliner. Sam is a testament to the resilience of abuse survivors and a shining example of how love and patience can heal.
