Meet Max, the handsome 20-year-old wonder kitty. Now that he is a "super senior," he spends most of his days sleeping in a sunny spot on our bed, and at night he sleeps with us on that same bed. He has earned his comforts
We adopted Max after adopting Arlo, a 4-month-old rescue puppy who was quite shy. Max soon won Arlo's trust, and they enjoyed many years as faithful companions and partners in crime. One of our favorite memories is the evening we saw Arlo dashing down the stairs with a pair of socks in his mouth and then running back up and reappearing with another pair. When we went up to investigate, we found curious Max on the top of a chest of drawers scooping out socks for his puppy pal to play with. After that, they settled down for a nap on their shared bed.
Their friendship lasted 14 years. Now Arlo has gone to his lasting rest, but Max is not alone. Kitties Bruce and Gollum and big dog Ajax are here to invite him to play, although he is mostly a spectator these days. We love having his quiet presence in our lives.
