About

The Wood County Humane Society is the only animal shelter that serves the community of Wood County, Ohio. Founded in 1904, the organization primarily serves abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs and cats, and exists to bring about the best possible treatment and quality of life for animals in Wood County. In addition to serving the animals of Wood County, the organization offers a number of signature programs to its community. Some of these programs include: a Humane Agent, who is responsible for investigating reports of animal cruelty; Safe Pets, which offers assistance to women who are fleeing domestic violence; and a pet food bank for community members who are facing financial difficulties. In 2018, the organization saved over 1100 lives.
