In August, we welcomed Thelma into our lives, and in many ways, she rescued us as much as we rescued her. Our hearts were shattered after saying goodbye to our sweet Gizmo, who blessed us with 17 beautiful years. The house felt so quiet, so empty, and the weight of that loss was almost unbearable. From the moment she walked in, we felt a shift. It’s hard not to believe that Gizmo had a paw in sending her our way, as if to say, “It’s okay, Mom and Dad—let your hearts love again.”

Thelma hasn’t just joined our family; she’s helped mend it.
