About Us
THE KANSAS HUMANE SOCIETY
HELPING ANIMALS & SAVING LIVES SINCE 1888
For more than 130 years, the Kansas Humane Society (KHS) has been a trusted resource for pets and the people who love them. Since 1888, we have cared for hundred of thousands of Wichita's animals - providing safety, comfort, and hope, and giving each pet the chance to find a loving home.
Today, KHS continues that mission by offering a wide range of serves that strengthen the human-animal bond. These include pet adoption, behavior support, spay/neuter services, end-of-life care, classroom field trips, community outreach, and more. Every program is designed with one goal in mind: to help pets and families live healthier lives together.
KHS is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We receive no federal, state or local tax dollars, nor do we receive funding from the Humane Society of the United States or United Way. Our lifesaving work depends entirely on the generosity of donors, community partners, and service fees.
Together, with the support of people like you, we are building a community where every pet has the chance it deserves.
OUR MISSION
The Kansas Humane Society is a community resource for pets and people, dedicated to enhancing the welfare of all companion animals.
WOOFSTOCK
The Kansas Humane Society's single largest annual fundraising event & festival. Funds raised from Woofstock are critical for supporting and caring for thousands of pets in need.
