Animal Savers Rescue’s mission is to establish a permanent resolution to the homeless and abandoned companion animal problem though dedicated rescue efforts which include sheltering, on-site high quality medical/veterinary care, a low-cost vaccine clinic, community outreach programs, education, collaborations, and the providing of spaying/neutering and responsible pet ownership for our shelter pets and the community at large.
Founded in 2009, Animal Savers Rescue is a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization maintained primarily through individual donations and grants. We have a small staff of two people and approximately twenty volunteers who take in and care for homeless/abandoned cats and dogs by providing them with food, shelter, medical care, current vaccinations, spaying and neutering services, and eventual placement into permanent and loving homes.
ASR’s main goals are:
- To provide immediate shelter for our rescued animals where they stay until they are ready to be placed for adoption.
- To provide up to date vaccinations and spaying and neutering services for our rescued animals.
Fact: An estimated 300,000 innocent cats and dogs are killed every year in Georgia’s animal control facilities 80,000 of which are in the metro Atlanta area (www.fixgeorgiapets.org).
Our accomplishments:
- Since 2009, Animal Savers Rescue has found homes for approximately 800 cats and 150 dogs most of which were pulled from local animal controls or found abandoned.
- In August 2012, opened a free-roaming, no-kill animal shelter located in Doraville, Georgia
- We care for between 50 and 75 animals at any given time.
