The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide.
Bastrop County Wellness Clinic is now open to the public three days a week offering low cost vaccinations and preventative care for owned pets. Our Surgery Suite is being used four days a week for shelter animals and through the nonprofit Save an Angel which offers low cost spay/neuter services for Bastrop resident’s pets.

Save An Angel is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization on a mission to end pet overpopulation by providing lifesaving care to homeless and at-risk animals. We are equally committed to proactively improving the quality of life for pets and increasing pet retention by empowering our community with the education and resources needed to care and provide for their companions.
