How would you describe their personality?
Anna is a German name we gave this active farm dog who is a true sweet heart that warms your soul when you see her run and play. We know she will grow up to become a large mature Saint Bernhard leaving her youthful fur coat and puppy nature behind, but we will always see her as a giant fun bundle of joy!

The Saint Bernard was recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) as early as 1885 with talents including: search and rescue, guard dog, watchdog and carting. According to the AKC, Saint Bernards were originally used to support travelers through the dangerous Alpine pass between Switzerland and Italy. In the middle of the seventeenth century, the Saint Bernard became popular saving people from avalanches in the snowy passes - the dogs were able to smell a person under many feet of snow.

It is recorded that they have saved thousands of lost or injured travelers as the dogs worked in packs to search for victims. When found they would lick and lie down with them in order to keep them warm. And while a dog or more would lie with the body(s), another dog would head back to alert help that they found the humans, so a full rescue team could be sent out.

The Saint Bernard has also been known to be able to predict storms and avalanches. This may be possible because of the dog's ability to hear very low-frequency sounds which humans cannot.
