Chow Chow Rescue of Central New York (CCRCNY) is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 rescue group started in 2001 by Chow enthusiast Cindy Stone. Serving as its director, Cindy also owns a pet grooming shop in Cicero, New York and regularly shows her personal Chows at events including the Westminster Dog Show. Cindy formed the rescue because of her love for this unique breed and is dedicated to finding forever homes for pure-bred Chows and Chow mixes.
We have earned a solid reputation nationwide as one of the best Chow Chow rescues in the U.S. Through contacts within the Chow Chow community, we have rescued and placed over 500 Chows since 2001. CCRCNY has been active in some well-publicized national rescues of Chows from unscrupulous breeders or ill prepared pet owners. Thanks to our volunteers and foster families, we have been able to make an amazing and positive impact on the Chow Chow community. Our past successes include these high number intakes:
- Kentucky, 2013 - 30+ chows/chow mixes
- Georgia, 2011 - 130+ chows
- Pennsylvania, 2009 - 90+ Chows
