About Us

Founded in 1964
Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Brookfield, WI . Our mission is to provide shelter for homeless animals, promote the humane animal bond, and prevent animal cruelty and neglect. We are proud to be the first No Kill Humane Society in Waukesha County.

Our services are designed to help both animals and people throughout the communities we serve directly and beyond! We provide animal control and humane officer services 365 days a year, 24 hours a day to the City of Brookfield, Town of Brookfield, and the Villages of Chenequa, Elm Grove, and Nashotah. We provide animal surrender, animal re-homing, cat and dog behavior and training assistance, humane education, and a low cost spay and neuter program. We also have a volunteer program that offers a variety of ways in which to volunteer your time.

We had nearly 1,500 animals pass through our doors last year, with 98% of those animals being adopted out, transferred to another rescue, or returned to their owners. These successes were made possible by our dedicated staff, volunteers, fosters, and local community members. It is because of people like you, that we are able to keep our doors open. We hope to give every animal that comes through our doors a second chance at finding their forever home!
