Kayser Animal Rescue Effort (KARE) is holding our annual online photo contest. Your donations support our work rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats at risk and support spay/neuter initiatives in the San Antonio area.
There are four ways to participate:
- Enter a photo of your pet to compete for great prizes and monthly features in our 2026 calendar.
- Reserve an individual date on our 2026 calendar for a photo of your pet to appear on the day of your choice. First come first served.
- Pre-order a 2026 calendar
- Vote for other entries
The photos that receive the most votes during the contest will be awarded GREAT prizes, and the top 13 vote-getters will be given exclusive monthly features in our 2026 KARE calendar.
We encourage you to enter the contest with your favorite photo of your dog or cat and a few words about them. Then invite your family and friends to vote for your photo! The contest is open to anyone and you may enter your photo for FREE. Your photo entry does not have to be of a rescue pet. We welcome photos of all family dogs and cats - beautiful and regal, silly and goofy, naughty and nice.
Voting is easy and fun and open to everyone. Votes are $1 each. Each dollar donated equals an equivalent number of votes. A minimum donation of $5 is required. You can vote as often as you like during the contest. You can apply all your votes to one photo or vote for multiple photos during the contest.
For the best chance to win, be sure to spread the word about your pet’s entry into the contest. Ask family and friends to go online and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! You can use the sharing buttons that appear on your pet’s photo page to share your photo entry with your Facebook friends. Plus, you can email links to encourage voting for your pet’s photo. This will help you receive the votes for your photo(s) while helping us raise money to support KARE!
Don't have a pet or a favorite photo to submit? No worries, you can participate AND support KARE by browsing the amazing photos and stories, picking your favorites and VOTING. Check back often, photos will be added throughout the contest. What a great way to start your day on a happy note, looking at pictures of adorable pets and voting to support rescue!
Proceeds will benefit KARE and fund the medical expenses and spay/neuter programs for our rescue animals. KARE is a designated 501(c)(3) charity, making all donations toward voting in the contest tax deductible.
Reserve a Day to Honor Your PetJust want a guaranteed spot in the calendar? Reserve a day to honor your pet. This can be for your pet's adoption anniversary, birthday, loved one's birthday, memorial or really any special day! Your pet's photo will appear on the day of your choice. Just choose your favorite photo and then choose the day and pay! First come first served! Once a date has been reserved, it will no longer be available.

The next 9 entries with the highest number of votes will have their photo featured on one of the months in the 2026 KARE calendar AND will also receive a 2026 KARE calendar.
Prize Notes:
All contest prizes have either been generously donated or underwritten by friends of KARE. Proceeds will benefit Kayser Animal Rescue Effort and fund the medical and rehoming expenses of our rescue animals.
Contest begins 12:00 AM (Central Time) on Sunday, September 7, 2025 and runs through 10:00 PM (Central Time) on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
- Voting and entry is open to EVERYONE, not just adopters of KARE. Your entry does NOT have to be a rescue animal. We love all cats & dogs and welcome all entries.
- Dog and/or cat photos only, no people please.
- No illustrations or artwork please.
- It is FREE to submit a photo!
- To enter the contest, you will submit a photo, provide your pets name, your name, address, and a couple sentences about your pet. This will help you obtain votes and may be published in the calendar if you win.
- Votes are $1 each. Each dollar donated equals an equivalent number of votes. A minimum donation of $5 is required. You can use your votes to vote on one photo entry, or spread them across your favorite photos.
- If you submit a photo to the contest, you can email links to your family and friends to encourage voting for your photo. On your pet's public page, there is a "share" button that allows you to share your entry.
- Please note, upon winning if your photo is too low resolution for the calendar we will ask you for an updated photo.
- Contest votes are tax deductible. The email acknowledgment to your online donation serves as your tax receipt.
- We plan for the 2026 KARE calendar to be available for distribution by Mid - December of 2025. Calendar pre-sales begin during the event. More information regarding ordering calendars will be posted on our social media.
- Contest donations are processed by a secure (SSL, PCI-Compliant) payment processor. You can donate using all major credit cards and Visa and MasterCard debit cards.
- Registration information shared by participants when creating an account to submit a photo entry will be kept strictly confidential.
- The selection process with be determined by electronic tabulations under the supervision of GoGo photo contest.
- All entries and photographs may be used by KARE at their discretion for any and all purposes. If you submit an entry that is copyrighted by another individual or company, you are responsible for obtaining permission from the owner.
- By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless KARE and the contest Sponsors and each of their respective officers, directors, representatives, volunteers and agents (the Released Parties) from and against any claims of any nature arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize.
