Lavender is a dilute calico cat with soft gray, cream and ginger coloring reminiscent of lavender blooms. She is a balance of elegance and chaos being both an observant bird-watcher who chirps excitedly from the bay window and a bundle of energy that zooms around the house at all hours. Lavender is a true snuggle siren, burrowing beneath the blankets every night and following me closely during the day, eager to be on my lap or curled up beside me. However, she also has a mischievous side, enjoying nibbling my toes, jumping on my back, and chewing on computer and TV cables, which has led to creative solutions to protect her from my electronics. She despises grooming, turning nail clipping and fur brushing into a wrestling match. Despite her antics, Lavender is the sweetest companion, providing comfort, grounding, and love when I need her most.

Lavender is a four-year old rescue cat, found in a neighborhood near the lavender fields of Helvetia, Oregon, which inspired her name. While at first I wasn’t expecting to adopt a kitten, as soon as I saw her I knew I couldn’t leave her behind. While her exact birthday is unknown, neighbors believe she was born in mid-June 2022. I like to celebrate her birthday on June 15 because it coincides with the date my father passed away, and having Lavender in my life has often felt like a special connection to his memory.
